YP Country Times journalists continue their look back at the 2010s by ranking the best television series of the decade. All shows with episodes during 2010-19 were eligible.
- 20. Chernobyl
A five-part historical drama focusing on the on the 1986 nuclear disaster.
- 19. Broad City
This hilarious American comedy started out as a web series created by and starring Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson. It revolves around the pair’s life in New York City and their hilarious antics, including trying to make it in the Big Apple.
- 18. I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here
What happens when you chuck a bunch of celebrities, or in most cases obscure celebrities, into a jungle on rations for about a month? You get drama, conflict and great TV.
- 17. The Masked Singer Australia
Celebrities don elaborate costumes and masks to hide their identity and sing for a panel of judges who must guess who they are. It’s probably one of the more bizarre shows to hit Australian TV but I just can’t look away.
- 16. Real Housewives of Melbourne
This fly-on-the-wall look at some of Melbourne’s glitziest and wealthiest women had me enthralled from the start. The show has been on hiatus since 2018 and was slated to return this year; however, COVID-19 halted production.
- 15. Schitt’s Creek
Love this show for me (if you’ve seen it you will get the reference). The program follows the Rose family who go from uber rich to dirt poor and have to move into a country town motel. It was created by Dan and Eugene Levy of American Pie fame. Stop acting like a disgruntled pelican (I can’t stop with the quotes) and give this a shot!
- 14. Will and Grace
This iconic ’90s television show about best friends, gay lawyer Will Truman and straight interior designer Grace Adler, was rebooted in 2017. It’s warm, funny and has a lot of great messages.
- 13. American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson
The OJ Simpson case was the trial of the century which divided a nation. This series allowed the audience to relive or experience the drama for the first time. The 10-part series is based on a book by Jeffrey Toobin and looks at the trial through the eyes of the prosecution team.
- 12. Bates Motel
If you’re looking for something a little different then I’d definitely recommend this psychological horror drama, a modern re-imagining of Aflred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho.
- 11. Roseanne/The Connors
Reboots were big in 2017 with classic comedy Roseanne entering our living rooms again for the first time in 20 years. However, it was short-lived — Roseanne was canned again after titular character Roseanne sent out a racist tweet on Twitter.
